Thought that perhaps I should exercise my state’s right and start carrying my concealed weapon. Fortunately schools here have not got to that point, but having said that a police officer had to disarm a student at a school a few months ago. No amount of restricting purchases of firearms is going to do much, too many in circulation. Look at England, they banned firearms 20+ years ago and still people get shot, stabbings are endemic and the murder rate is terrifying. At a loss for an answer?
stop trying to use logic. people just want to blame guns and not the perpetrator.
I'm just showing up in the same nondescript clothing I always wear.
This was political violence. If you want to do something, examine the political ideology behind it and erase it.
nope, doesn't fit the narrative the media wants to push.
We are on Spring break but throwing on a shirt or something is Slacktivism. We need to do more.
I want to do more or something meaningful also, but I can also understand why the teachers aren't talking about. When it's something that's so close to home you don't want to keep bringing up. Many teachers are trying to avoid the topic all together to avoid having a mental break down
More than what??!! We are still going to work each day while the powers that be futz about. Ridiculous.
I am on spring break, but I am not really expecting to do anything different. If there was something meaningful I could do, I would be open to doing it , but so far I haven't found anything.
Honestly, I'm at a loss. What do I do? What should I do? What can I do?
I want to do something but I'm so lost at this point I don't know what to do
I've been deliberating with my colleagues on what we can do to actually make a difference. I think we do need to come together all over the country
We can voice how we feel but it's really politicians who should be doing something. We could call our local offices to complain and request more safety measures
Do not foist the problem onto politicians. It's the responsibility of district leaders, school administrators, and classroom teachers to devise plans to keep kids safe. There are no new laws that will prevent school (or other mass) shootings, rendering moot the usefulness of politicians.
