What are your benefits like if you need surgery at your company? Does your employer offer a Center of Excellence option for employees to reach better surgeons?

Question : I have two offers on the table. 1- 22.25/ hr - permanent position with benefits and vacation 2- 24.71 / hr - 12 month contract , 4% in leui of benefits , possibility for permanent Both are 35 hours, same schedule . Either decision will hurt someone. Whether it be coworkers or new employer. What would you choose ?

$130k is not enough to cover living expenses for me and my wife in N. Va. We always overspend by around $300 every month. We are doing this thing where we live on my income (the 130k) and save all the money my wife makes, because I was naive enough to think I made a lot of money. What are most company standards for vacation time and PTO for a group of 25 and lower of employees? We do 5 days after 1 yr, 10 day after 2yrs 15days after 5yrs and 20days after 10yrs. PTO is accrual monthly after your first 90 days. 32-40hr average is full time, 25-32hr average is part-time.

Is it worth moving to an org without municipal pension? I’ve been with the City 8 yrs only so in my view, my pension will not be substantial anyway so I can leave it and move on to greener pastures.

Should I max Roth 401k vs Traditional 401k in this scenario? Live in a reasonably high tax state now (Oregon) and now make over the income thresholds for a direct to Roth IRA. Will backdoor this year. I like the Roth route for being a predictable number for retirement but I’d be collecting basically $0 in tax benefits if I didn’t max the Traditional 401k and I don’t love the idea of paying all that tax on my maxed Roth 401k since I pay so much in extra state taxes for it

Anyone here switched from advertising to mental health or healthcare? Considering going back to school for clinical psychology (PsyD) or med school (post bacc and then med school). I’m very daunted by the time and cost, however. I’m 25 and feeling like I’m running out of time to make the change.

Career advice? Have 10-15 years of experience. Credentialed actuary and first half of my career was pension consulting, since then have broadened to multiple areas of HR/Comp/Benefits. Testing the waters with some applications at both consulting firms and switching in house. First interview for director of total rewards was waste of time due to pay only being half of what I expected. What other groups/roles are out there I should be looking at? Would M&A HR due diligence have zero WLB? Thanks!

Does the amount of "Breakthrough Cases" rising among those fully vaccinated make anyone... wonder? Now there's a "Delta+" variant? Now they are saying "No vaccine is 100% effective so this is to be expected"? As if we're just suppose to shrug our shoulders after they have been pressuring everyone to get the vaccine?
