As a junior associate at a boutique firm, one of my biggest stressors is navigating how involved partners want me to be on their cases. Some expect me to just take initiative to get the ball rolling on filings with upcoming deadlines, and others don’t want me to touch anything until they explicitly ask me to. I offer to do things and communicate what I’m working on, but I worry that I’m overstepping by assuming it’s ok for me to work on stuff without first being asked. Advice? Can anyone relate?

Considering getting an iPad Pro and apple pencil but trying to justify the $1200 sticker price. I was just given a legal assistant because my workload has increased substantially. I’m too busy to delegate (court), and she knows nothing about law. She’s never worked in a law firm.
