Question for other VCs, are you guys doing much financial modelling? During my interview I had to do the whole 9 yard, Dcf, comps etc. However after month 3 I have a feeling we do not really model at all - more just projecting what biz could look like with assumptions up to next stage of funding. What is it like elsewhere?

Hi Nagarrians,

I had my tech F2F round today and I prepared very well on both my domain and tech perspective. But the interview was very simple and unexpected questions came up. Though I answered them I didn’t find a good vibe in the interview!!

I feel that I have not been interviewed properly to show all my skills. Totally there were only 8 ques asked along with Tell me about yourself!

Is it a sign of interviewer not interested to proceed further from initial sets of answer I gave?pls help

SOS to anyone in the Austin, Texas area! About to be 3rd year associate with experience in financial services, bankruptcy, regulatory compliance (mostly consumer and bank focuses) and litigation. Can’t stand my tiny firm after being here for over a year. Keep making it to final round interviews for roles (in-house, mid-size firms) I’m probably a bit “under-qualified” for but no luck. Looking for any advice on firms/companies to look at. I’ll also happily accept any jokes to make me feel better.

I’ve recently left my job (unhappy with it) and am applying for new work. I have a few irons in the fire at the moment. I’m curious about a trend I am seeing: I like to think I’ve well documented my abilities and functions in my CV, as well as my portfolio. I’ve noticed that for some of these jobs that I can check every single box in the job description, I won’t even get an interview. I’m wondering if many of these jobs are posted for internal hires, but some stay open for weeks. What gives?

Hello guys. I had an interview im Cognizant recently. They conducted a telephonic technical round.
They gave me no timelines though.
When can I expect a call back from them regarding the next round/update?

How many interviews are normal before you get an offer? I’m looking to make a switch and have been interviewing with 3 companies for more senior roles. Each has at least 5 rounds + 1 recruiter call. I don’t remember this being the case when I got my last job several years ago.

Senior associates in litigation-based groups in Big Law: How much autonomy do you have in your cases? What can you do without partner approval? I can at least email clients about certain things without partner review, but otherwise partners review everything else that goes out the door (motions, discovery requests/responses) and generally do all of the court hearings and mediations, and most depositions themselves.

So my ex just joined my law firm and I’m trying to decide whether I should send a “welcome to the firm message” to make sure he knows that I know that he’s there.
For context, I summered at this firm and have been here for the last three years, it’s a V20. He was at a different firm and then clerked twice and then I guess lateraled over here. I’m pissed because we agreed never to speak again, but then he shows up here, knowing full well that I’m still here (we’re still linked in connections).

I’m considering a lateral offer in lit between a V10 and V50. The V10 has the brand value, but I got the impression that I would just be another cog in the machine there. The V50 is similarly well regarded in my specific practice area as the V10, and I do think if I want to try to make partner I should go to the V50. Does brand value particularly matter? I’m coming from a V50, and only considering government or staying at the firm.
