Sleep. I really enjoy it when I have a solid 8 hours away from work to sleep. I spent around 15k on a quality bed and mattress.

Thank you SA1 😊

Indoor rock climbing. I started it a year ago as a 3rd year associate and I try to go once a week on weekends for 1-3 hours. I spend about $130/month for the membership to use the facilities. It is not only a great exercise but it also forces me to forget thinking about work while I am on the wall and I get great sleep after climbing. I hope to keep practicing so that I can also try climbing outdoor when I am more advanced and out of big law in the future.

Running! Currently training for a thanksgiving half marathon. I run 4 days a week and cross train 2 days. It's fairly inexpensive: new shoes are about $200 every 3-4 months, and races range in price depending on field size and distance. it can be more expensive if you join a running club, but I haven't found the time to get back into a club since starting in big law.

Other than running, we (my husband and I) have season tickets to the theatre and usually see a musical a month. We also go to sports games and concerts regularly. We live downtown in a big city, so there's always something to do and we can usually walk there.

I used to go to a dance class once a week as well (I was doing beginner hip hop lol) but the studio recently closed and haven't found a new one. It was about $20/class.

PC gaming with my friends and going out to dinner with my girlfriend.

PC was about $4k. I got an Alienware with a 3080. You can probably find a non-Alienware PC with a 3080 for about $3k.

Dinner for my gf and me is $100 - $400 a meal depending on where we go.

Video games - PS5 cost around $600 and I probably spend $200-500 on games each year depending on my workload. It's a great escape.

Hiking. Have a national park pass and a Colorado state park pass. Starting mountain biking, rock climbing and skiing.

like

That’s the Colorado trifecta!

Collecting watches, working out and playing video games. For the first, I have spent about 8k in the last two years; for the second a lot over the years (I take whey protein and other supplements, and love shopping for workout fits lol); and for the third I just bought a great desktop for both work and play since I WFH.

like

A3 - I don’t mind. Once I get to log off and get my game on and I smoke some weed all the work stuff disappears haha.

Hi everyone,

I was affected by layoffs about a month ago and urgently looking for a good immigration lawyer. The lawyer should be experienced in handling this 60 day grace period situation and developing alternate strategies - such as change of status to B1/B2 or applying to jobs from India. There is a lot of noise and wrong information going in the market so looking for good recommendations.

I have very little time left for my grace period to end and need a consultation soon. Thanks

Hello everyone!
What would you choose between P&G, pwC and a small consulting firm for a data science internship. The three positions are based in Paris and in data science, I have to take a decision this week and I'm completely lost :/
I don't have any clear idea about what I would like to do after (sometimes I think about a phd but others I prefer consulting...)
Thank you so much for your help

At my uncles wedding in Madrid I remember lying down on the grass in the courtyard after their first dance and crying, my Dad came and saw me, laid down in his suit beside me and asked what was wrong.

“I know my boyfriend wouldn’t dance with me like that at our wedding”

And we just lay there as I cried, and then got up. Had a drink.

Said boyfriend left years ago, and now I have a wonderful man who just asked me what type of dance lessons I want for our wedding next year.

Don’t give up.

Excuse me for this irrelevant ask - a friend is charged with a third degree trespassing and she’s eager to find a good lawyer. As her only lawyer friend (granted, a corp lawyer in BL), it sucks I can’t offer her more help but to ask around for some contacts… the court is in Upstate NY, but she wants a lawyer in NYC or its vicinity. She is less concerned about the cost but more about not leaving a permanent record.
Please feel free to DM - thank you so much in advance!
