What are your personal laptop preferences? I know most offices provide Lenovo and the like, but what do you all use for yourselves? I’ve been a Mac person forever but they’re just so expensive these days.

I have a MacBook Pro I got in 2018. It barely gets used so it’s still brand new. Macs are more expensive but they last longer

10 year old MacBook Air, still works well and gets solid battery life. I’ve had to replace the cord at least seven times though because my cat chews through it, I’m convinced Apple dips their cords in cat nip!

My company is using me as a guinea want so just today I received a new Dell detachable- basically a surface clone. It's interesting. Definitely has some benefits but impossible to use on your lap. I think I'd prefer a traditional laptop plus my iPad pro

MSI.

I have a problem, I over explain myself and when I do it with my women colleagues I think they get the impression that I'm mansplaining to them. I started the habit because I ran into an issue where a lot of people often weren't sure what I was talking about and I'm trying to be nice and explain it up front so things are absolutely clear. Is there a way to do this where I don't run the risk of offending my colleagues? I certainly don't mean to imply incompetence.

Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.
