Show me some of your lowest budget work. Everyone comes in and wants to show off Super Bowl/multimillion dollar budget work - which is fun to see but honestly I’m usually given $10 and a bubble gum wrapper to make ridiculous stuff happen. As a producer, I’m responsible enough to advise against the really outlandish ideas but ultimately I have to make what gets sold through.
Generic statements about storytelling/content creation/authenticity, talking about their office culture, name dropping.
I want to hear the work they love to do, why they love it, why they're good at it, what their specialties are, what they're most proud of, any interesting antidotes about a projects.
“We do it all!"
Agreed with producer 1! The sexy stuff is great- but it’s not most of our reality. I personally am always looking to see a full campaign worth of content, impress me with your budget and timeline, agility and partnership abilities. But who knows maybe my next job will have a 2 mil budget?! (Seems unlikely but a girl can dream!)
It depends on your business. If it’s commonly understood like post production, then I don’t need details about the machines you’ve got in your graphics department.
Try to understand what I do and for what clients and the industries I work in then tailor your presentation accordingly.
I’m more interested in what you’ve done successfully and for whom. Then maybe your process if it’s uncommon or very different from others.
Also, not having enough food 😂
🙏 thank you SP for your considered reply. Very helpful!
Sp1 exactly! Those cliches can be cringe worthy.
Agree with Producer 1 and SP1 — show me the tight budget work and the stuff you specialize in.
Thanks all. This is very helpful feedback!
I agree, I want to see the work that came out great, but was a huge challenge. And nobody ever brings pharma, bring me some pharma.
