PSLF, income based repayment plan. I’ve got less than 2 years until forgiveness.

Think I'm going to switch to private before the fed raises rates again. Also before the pause is lifted, so I'm hesitant.

Refinanced (mistake in hindsight…) to lower monthly payments during a time when I had high out of pocket healthcare costs and couldn’t keep afloat. In theory will be paid off in 15 years….

I also refinanced. Such a huge mistake lmao
I refinanced in 2019 (ugh), but since then I’ve paid off half. I just have 3 more years to go, and it’ll be all gone. I’ve become slightly more aggressive (paying a bit more than minimum) because I just want it gone. I don’t even care about forgiveness. The monthly payment is almost identical to my mortgage payment. When it’s gone, it’s going to feel amazing.
I’ve paid off almost $250k from bonuses. Got another $97k that’s on deferment. I think I’m just going to pay it off in January.
How did you end up with $350k in loans?
I’m gambling.
Currently doing an income based repayment plan ($180 principle) and investing aggressively in the market. Got very lucky over COVID and have saved over $100k, while adding to qualifying payments and not adding interest.
My payment is about to go up significantly when I requalify whenever payments start back up, but only have 17 years left of payments. 🙃
Goal is to pay the minimum and hope forgiveness still happens, or happens sooner and maybe walk away with a big chunk of savings and enough for the tax bill. Or have enough to pay it all off if republicans screw me before the 25 years are up.
So glad I didn’t refinance pre COVID.
Why do so many of you regret your refinance?
You aren’t eligible for any forgiveness. Not that I would’ve qualified anyway.
