What are your thoughts about being offered a more junior role in a multinational company. I haven’t seen the offer yet but I would assume it will be at par of my current or a bit higher.

If the organisation is bigger and is better in terms of financial and learning growth, I don’t see any problem. Especially if you’re going from a B tier company to an A tier company.

If I am being offered a more junior role in a multinational company, I would be hesitant to accept it. My current position is more senior and offers more responsibility. While it is possible that the new position would offer similar opportunities, it is also possible that it would be less demanding and offer fewer challenges

I would need to see the specific job description and salary to make a decision. If the new position is at par with my current salary or offers a slight raise, then I would be likely to accept it. However, if the new position is significantly lower than my current salary, I would decline the offer.

It depends on what your long-term goals are. If you're interested in making it in the corporate world vs. smaller companies, then this move would make sense. One thing I'd be sure to ask, though, is what the path and potential time line is for advancement. If you take a junior role but you know that within a year or two you'll be able to start climbing the ladder, then it's worth the temporary step back.

Mmm...I've seen people to do it where they take a lower title but I've always assumed that they were getting paid way more because that's pretty much the only incentive I can think of

It depends on you goals. Do you want pay or rank? In my opinion getting paid more with less responsibilities sounds great!

If your main motivation is money, then that would be fine. But for me, I'd rather focus on my career growth. How about you, OP?

I will never understand why people complain so much about our jobs. We get paid a lot of money, to do something interesting, and have a realistic shot of moving up. Maybe it's just me but I've always been able to have a life. In my three years in big law, I have missed one dinner date. The job has never prevented me from doing something in my leisure that I've actually wanted to do.

When I was getting my tax llm at Georgetown, this was the dream.
