CRED Vs Razorpay offer evaluation
I Received offers from Razorpay and CRED for a product role.
Razorpay: 50 LPA fixed + 45 Lakhs ESOPs.
CRED: 60 LPA fixed + 75 Lakhs ESOPs
What should I decide between CRED and Razorpay?
How are appraisals at Razorpay? What's the average hike percentage? Can we ask for more ESOPS during the appraisal before vesting the current ESOPs?

I’m in the real estate group in a large office. While there is a lot of compliance, there are also lots of transactions…both big and small. We really try to focus on developing our people technically so that they are equipped to help with the deals and also bring a more technical perspective to their compliance. As for the balance between compliance and consulting, people seem to do best when they have a good balance of both so we try for that whenever we can; however some prefer the predictability of compliance while others prefer the fast-pace and variability of deals. We try to accommodate whatever people prefer because that’s generally when they’re happiest, which ultimately leads to better outcomes for everyone.
We definitely cross-over with PE for a number of reasons; however, I’ve found that real estate PE is much more consultative (particularly for BTS) than traditional PE. As for the hours, there can be some long weeks in busy season or around a milestone on a transaction but the 85-90 hour weeks that you mentioned above are not anywhere near normal or common.
While there’s always room for improvement, I genuinely think our culture is quite good. I realize that I’m biased given that I’m a partner; however, keep in mind that wasn’t always the case. I started as a staff and stayed all of these years because of the people and the feeling that I was moving forward in my career…both technically and professionally. For what it’s worth, I’d do it all over again.
Happy to connect if you have questions.
Thank you for this response! It's very helpful and informative.
You will end up overlapping work with PE group.
How is the culture of that group? I'm just trying to get a sense of the groups. I can wrap my head around longer hours - unless it's 85-90 every week. But I wanted to check if it's a toxic culture.
I’d like to know as well
It’s a big4 there is always going to be long days. Which big4 group doesn’t have a toxic culture? Some teams are good but some teams are bad. Isn’t that how it is at big4?
