Kinda just depends on how hungry I am and what the delivery fees are

funnylike

I also have the CSR yet haven’t even cared enough to take advantage of the waiver, I don’t use the app and feel like setting it up is not worth the hassle. I don’t have kids so can’t imagine ever being lazy enough to pay the insane delivery fees. But aside from the fees, for me personally picking up the food is apart of the whole eating out experience. I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks this way, maybe 20 it will be the norm but for now I’m bearish.

I think companies that have what it takes to be world beaters would find a way to be profitable with their first line of business. The delivery businesses don’t seem to know how to make money despite being at scale and in the middle of a pandemic when many people don’t want to shop in stores.

The knock on Amazon 10-15 years ago wasn’t that they were profitable, it was that they spent all the cash flow on new businesses. They took profits from online retail and built AWS. That’s proven to be a winning strategy.

The delivery companies can’t make money on delivery. That’s a very different value proposition.

Their success is tied directly to how often people order food from home. I don't see an appetite for that in the future (pun intended).

Right now, they charge high delivery fees, they take a big chunk of the restaurant's cut, and they don't pay their drivers particularly well. The only thing they have going for them is a pandemic that forces folks to not eat out as often. If the pandemic wanes or becomes an endemic situation, people will go back to restaurants... if the pandemic marches on, you'll likely see new competitors in the space or restaurants will start employing their own drivers.

It feels like it’s declining. Haven’t heard any enthralling growth plans lately. Haven’t been following the stock though

They have no economic moat; their only method of growth is to be cheaper than competitors

IMO wait some more, they are not just delivering food. I have noticed for same day delivery Walmart is using DD.

Eventually they will try and become a global logistics company. Not sure if they will be able to execute

I know this is lame, but we made a decent amount of money in the ridiculous market uptick. I’m expecting the bottom to fall out and would like to take $100,000 of the gain and pay off car loans, kids’ tuition, and maybe do some home improvements. Hubby wants to let it ride, but this feels like free money to me. I get compounding etc. and know that I am much more conservative than he is, but we’d like to retire in 5-7 years. Thoughts?

Totally new to this subject, so please pardon any ignorance. How do you recommend best making use of my savings? In my first job out of college, no debt, have about 25k saved between a standard savings account and a brokerage account. I’m able to save about 1-1.5k of my salary monthly. What’s the best way to divide my savings? Should I max out my Roth while I’m in a lower tax bracket and then prioritize 401k? What are my options, and what resources are out there for guidance and info? Thank you!
