Hi guys, my HR just told me that I most probably would be on a permanent WFH as I join. Is it the same across USI?
I’ve accepted an offer for a non-partner track counsel position at an Amlaw 200 firm. Salary of 300k, expectation of 1800 billable hours. Fully remote. I’ve worked at top regional firms during my 10+ year career. I’m leaving a small book and a solid shot at partner in 3-5 years for the risks of permanent counsel and unknown biglaw bs. Wife and I are prioritizing things other than careers with this move. She’s also able to go fully remote. I’m scared but also excited. Am I crazy?
New Positions open in Nomura Holdings Inc. Skill Set -Hadoop,Spark with Scala,Sqoop,Hive Relevant experience required-2-5 yrs Location -Mumbai(WFH as of now) Share resume to email@example.com
How can I be the best manager to a direct report who is totally new to the industry and 9-5 life in general? My agency got rid of the intro to media program for entry-level folk during COVID and I want to set him up for success and make his first agency experience a good one while WFH.
Any M&A/PE 2nd years and above looking to lateral to a Milbank scale NY firm with real WLB (most people take 20-25 undisturbed days off, 1900 req which most people fall around)? official RTO is 3 days in but no one follows it and associates have negotiated full remote positions (I’m remote). Dm for details
Hoping to help my wife out. She’s a school counselor and would like to career pivot but isn’t sure to what career. Any suggestions? She would like a remote job and thought maybe HR would be a smooth transition but she’s open to suggestions. Also, she would love a fully remote job. TIA.
We just had a Junior CW start on Monday. We took him out to lunch this past Monday and got him setup to WFH but... what a strange time to start a new job! How can we make him feel welcome remotely?
I have one of the pre existing conditions that puts people at risk for worse outcomes, but our Partners want to start sending the analysts back to the office to “test the waters”. I tried googling and looks like I’ll be in a grey area, but does anyone have advice here? I think they have to provide me with reasonable accommodation, but I really don’t think a mask over a 12+ hr work day helps. I just want to stay wfh :/.
Best spots to meet people if things ever open back up? All this WFH has me convinced I have should get to know the area I pay rent in nowadays...
Anyone have tips for overcoming procrastination / executive dysfunction? I have this inner voice screaming at me to get stuff done, but sometimes can’t get myself moving and sit on my phone for long periods of time instead. I feel like it’s gotten worse lately with WFH and a terrible case. Any tips?
For those of you who have cut out drinking, what are your go-to’s when you want to drink but want to abstain? After 2 years of the pandemic/WFH, alcohol seemed to be so routine most days whether with dinner or now out with friends and I know it’s not doing favors for my health/weight so I’m trying to see how long I can go without. Currently at day 5 with the plans to hit at least 3 full weeks and see how I feel
Work from home once a week should be standard. Just one day in my pajamas to think and write and get away from all the people and immerse myself in bonding with my dog.
Anyone been taking advantage of WFH to sell off unneeded household items? My wife had me assemble an old glass desk I've considered throwing away many times so she could post it and she sold it within 15 minutes for 4x what I suggested it was worth and it was picked up within an hour. Outgrown children's clothes as well, often for close to what she paid for them.
Wfh/corona has changed my priorities and outlook. Thinking of moving. Who lives/has lived in Vermont? Did you like it? Was it peaceful? Will I be happy if I move there????
Has anyone had to (or considered) leaving consulting because of their health? With WFH I am just being USED; I’m up at 3am to work before the kids are awake and working late into the night. I spend about 40 mins of quality time with my kids, aged 1 & 2. It’s starting to impact my health, I’m having chest pains and heart palpitations and my anxiety is through the roof. I usually love my job, and feel respected and valued. But I don’t know if I can take it anymore.
What are your work from home staples that look professional but feel like wearing pajamas?
What is a good bag/watch for 2nd year associates? Started remote and don’t want to look too cheap now that we’re going back in

When you fly, do you try to make friends with the person next to you? What’s your best/worst story?
I work with a manager that was put on a PIP. She’s angry. She thinks I’m the one that got her in trouble (I’m not). I wrote her and asked about a client deliverable she was responsible for and she copied the world saying it was my job. My Q is do I engage (reply-all) and set the record straight or take the high road?

28 years old, have about $200K in cash and stocks, excluding 401(k). How would you allocate the $200K between cash / stocks / bonds? Crypto is the wrong answer.
Social anxiety disorder and consulting. Is it impossible to succeed in consulting with social anxiety? 3 years since I graduated and started working at D and I'm convinced I've chosen the wrong career. I don't know what my options are, I feel hopeless. Panic attacks when speaking in front of crowds, difficulty networking, etc. Has anyone gone through this?
