My opinion is this, I don’t necessarily think teachers are underpaid if they were paid to teach as they did in the 60’s, 70, 80’s and 90’s. The problem now is teachers aren’t teachers anymore. They are teachers, social workers, and overall de-facto parents to so many kids.
If Teacher’s were allowed to teach and not worry about the pressure of student’s abilities to take a test that really has no impact on them and shrinking budgets that are requiring teachers to spend their own money on their students as if they were their own, I think things would be different.
If we got back to teachers providing academic information and students being responsible for their own education as we all were, and parents being held responsible for their own children’s behavior and schooling, things would. E vastly improved and things would change
