Where is Greg Abbott? I can understand he cannot broadcast because there is no electricity but whag is he trying to fix the situation is unclear. Is he hiking in Appalachia?

I agree it was potentially a conservative leak, and would put it 60% likely.
First, public opinion will not change the opinion. It never has and never will. That's why they're appointments for life.
But, for conservatives, this lessens the blow and makes it more likely that the bulk of the opposition has moved into the acceptance stage of grief by the time the final opinion comes out.
For liberals, it spurs action to moot the opinion prior to it being released. But that would have been easier after it was released.
Yes the Michigan law exists, but at least for now they treat and plan to continue treating it as a zombie law.
The leak did a great job shifting everyone's attention off the economy, Ukraine, etc.
While not common, there have been Supreme Court leaks in the past, including details on the original Roe v Wade. More importantly, Supreme Court leaks are not illegal, but only a protocol violation.
Check out Ashton Embry, a Supreme Court clerk, who leaked multiple decisions around 1919 for a profit.

Probably a conservative clerk locking in the Alito opinion. My guess is that Roberts was doing well of lobbying to stop at trimming back Roe to the MS 15 weeks.
Someone did us a favor
What is the reason you think it’s a conservative clerk? Why not a liberal clerk who doesn’t see the ship turning and is trying to bring outside influence?
Public opinion of the USSC is already low and I'd argue close to the majority think the court is already compromised. 58% of the public think the law shouldn't be overturned. You really think the justices care about what the public's opinion is on their credibility?

There always have been leaks and there always will be. Whether the ship stays seaworthy is all that matters.

Interesting take on why it could be a conservative clerk

A cause for grave concern about the integrity of those who work in the highest court in the land

Clarence Thomas is already presiding over cases that his wife is directly involved in or consulting on or representing without recusal or noting the conflict. Integrity …. lol.
Should happen more often. Supreme Court needed to be much more transparent.

Personally I just assumed they were shared to begin with.
If I can Livestream congress and the Depp trial, I would assume discussions about issues as critical as this are even more valuable to share publically.
