What are your thoughts on the prices of subscriptions in education? ((Ex. Newsela=$750 for 1 teacher, Discovery Streaming=$4,000 for school) Do you have other examples?
It’s much too expensive for our small rural school district. I’m sure the content is amazing but we just have to do without it and find other sources.
Our local paper allows teachers to have copies brought into their classroom for use-at no charge-but it’s only local news. For broader topics in the world we have tech savvy teachers who bring in content and topics they have researched and found themselves.
Subscriptions to things are expensive. My principal says that we should stick to free things, if possible. I usually have to beg, borrow, or steal.
I agree, I guess I’m asking why companies get to charge so much to entities that are underfunded. It seems like these companies exploit education.
I think it’s kind of expensive for the one teacher option. There are a lot of things that some people would use individually but it’s not worth buying a school license for. However the school won’t purchase a handful of individual licenses for random people for that much because they would rather allocate funds to things that are school/ district wide.
