I’m an Analyst, and I was looking at opportunities at Microsoft as a Business Program Manager. It says it wants you to have 5+ years of experience, but someone I went to college with got that position straight out of undergrad less than two years ago. How true are the requirements at Microsoft?

I’m in the biopharma space and I fell into it. Had a buddy working in the space and they were hiring. I started working on contracts primarily and then began expanding skill sets. I ended up really liking it because I feel like I’m doing some good in the world and not just shuffling paper.

Criminal law.My father is also a lawyer and growing up, I would always see him work. He taught me early about legal stuff and I got fascinated with criminal law. So here I am.
Funny. I ALWAYS thought I would end up in Criminal Law and ended up in Malpractice instead. Kind of fun how things shake out in the end.
In house, general corporate. I didn’t want to litigate because when I was in law school, I hated public speaking (I’m fine at it now). I did big-law esque work in DE, hated it, went to small law and did a mix of M&A and outside general counsel, loved it but didn’t want to develop a book of business or deal with billable hours, now I’m in house and mostly like it.
Environmental law. Did a clinic in law school and got some great experience, made connections that led to a FT role. It was rough the last administration, but getting better now.
That is one thing I could never do. I respect you for doing it though.
I mostly do medical malpractice with a hint of a car accident every now and again. It kind of just fell in my lap honestly and I have loved it ever since. Interned in Medical Malpractice and just stuck with it.
Tax. Job security.
Tax. I was also an accountant before I entered law school. I am happy that I was able to make my two professions work together.
