What boundaries have you set with teams and with clients that have helped you maintain sanity? How have they slowed or assisted your career?

I don’t respond to or carry my work phone when I am taking breaks - usually for meals and working out. Most of my team tries to do the same and generally respect the boundaries. I guess this is pandemic specific. Generally don’t carry my work phone or respond to anything after Friday @ 3pm (I will check a few times but won’t respond unless someone is having a meltdown which also almost never happens since I have always had these boundaries).

So my 22 year old little brother starts his engineering job straight out of college with a base salary of $135k plus $25k worth of annual equity and automatic cell phone and fitness credits. He is also eligible for cash bonuses. Meanwhile, I'm a 26 year old making less than half his pay at EY with no bonus potential and am told that I am lucky to still have a job. Talk about depressing lol

Late night thoughts - I cannot figure out when to throw in the towel on consulting. I just switched to a Big 4 role two weeks ago and I feel like my stress has shot up significantly. I hate traveling for work and I want a role with good WLB. I know two weeks is nothing and I feel like a failure for giving up so easily but I feel I'm just not made out for this kind of life. Should I just suck it up and stick it out for two more years for the exit opps?

CFA worth it in consulting ? Any industries it may help open doors into?

Hot take (potentially): Austin has got to be the most overrated city in the US right now. Just got back from a 10 day trip there and wow. Tiny downtown, food isn’t that great and the traffic is awful for its size
