Selective Insurance & Allstate have great cultures.

I work for progressive and it’s hands down the best company I’ve ever been with.

The culture where I’m at has been amazing. Only had the best experience with bosses and team members. No one micro manages and that was my biggest issue in previous roles. It’s generally a super relaxed environment.

GEICO just laid off a ton of people. Not sure I’d head that way as they have announced additional to come.

I cannot recommend avoiding Travelers enough. There’s a multitude of reasons but their employee tenure is terrible for a reason. Middle to upper management seems ok. Anything below that, run.

Similar to above, I’ve heard good things about Progressive, Allstate, Liberty, and USAA. I know a lot of people that moved to these companies over the years. They’re still there so the companies are doing something right. Best of luck to you.

Wow. 400 in a single region is a lot given the size of those departments.

can confirm, GEICO is exactly as bad as you’ve heard. i’ve heard really good things about AmFam too, Liberty Mutual and Progressive

Nov 17 will be 5 years for me with geico, Im in claims, I don't see any problems. Love it

Liberty is terrible, they lay off all the time. I say hanover or allstate

I used to, for 6 years...

I worked for Allstate and I absolutely loved working there. They had a really great environment and the benefits were some of the best at any place I have ever worked. I only left because I was moving and they didnt' have remote roles at the time.

Acuity Insurance, hands down!

Progressive has been pretty cool

like

Allstate has a wonderful culture and aim to be inclusive.

like

Been at State Farm since 2004 and they've been very good to me. I always try to recruit people to join our team.

like

Travelers. Coming from multiple carriers, I really enjoy travelers. If you’re used to a heavy workload, you will be shocked at the workload they give at travelers. It’s very very manageable

I've heard great things about Progressive

EMC, best culture amongst mangers and the team.

So, Geico laid off a ton of people and are no longer accepting new business in California.

Allstate here, one of the best companies I’ve worked for. Claims is really fast and super helpful. Work environment is one of the best.

I have many Fred Loya horror stories though.

They are accepting new customers in CA but you have to go online the didn’t layoff either the closed the local offices and those people were independent contractors I’ve been there for a long time and they are or were a great company to work for

Just joined Progressive and I’d have to say… the company culture, leadership and coworkers are pretty amazing! Bonus and promotions are available to everyone. We are hiring too! 😊

I was hired by a company that is paying me a ridiculous amount of money to do my job, but they lied to me, they lied to all of the new hires. This isn’t underwriting, this is a call center. We aren’t even allowed to answer coverage questions when the agents call. The call volume is INSANE - like 70+ calls a day. There’s no actual underwriting happening, and I don’t know what to do. The money is great, but the job is a joke. I’ve been here for 2 months and I want out. Advice?

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?

Hello all, I hope you’re all having a fantastic day/evening. I’m a Case Manager for TZ Insurance, aka Tranzact. Does anyone know of anything I could apply for at other companies/positions with my skill set? I don’t want to be a sales agent, though I have a Health/Life Insurance License in my state (& a few others). I review new applications with clients. I’m sick of dealing with all the 65+ & disabled people who are always irate & impatient, inside the “Medicare” area of Health Insurance.

*Any resources to research salary expectations are appreciated*
I’m currently expecting an offer this week for an underwriting role at a mid-sized mutual in NJ. I have 3 years mid-market commercial underwriting experience at a smaller mutual company in NJ (+ prior summer internship and insurance degree). What should I expect for salary? I’m thinking 75k? Where can I research this kind of thing?
