I think all product certifications are less useful than six months actually working on a product.*
When I say “working on a product”, I don’t meant “I implemented SaaS for a client and that made me the product owner/manager”. The PMs for SFDC/Servicenow/whatever work for those companies directly.
This question comes up a lot, as the appeal is understandable--some kind of product certification feels like a small investment in one's product career to hopefully get a leg up on others, and offers a hopefully a clear ROI for only the cost of time and money. A guaranteed shortcut into product!
So while that is appealing, the consensus I've seen from senior product folks is that certifications are not highly valued. There are no guaranteed shortcuts.
Just write your own app and work on it :)
