What coffee shops do you find are best for lesson planning and grading?

None, unless there is a coffee shop available in your school that is open during hours you are getting paid to be in the building. The only way we will ever see some semblance of sanity in our workload is if we put the breaks on the excessive paperwork. There is a difference between how much students NEED to know versus SHOULD know. Leave the lesson planning to be done on school premises and enjoy your coffee shops for what they are there for - relaxing!

It’s not a coffee shop, but I hit up the study rooms/quiet floors in the public library! I’ve yet to run into any students and the quiet atmosphere helps me to focus on what I’m doing. If I’m looking for background noise, I do tend to go to Starbucks!

I have friends that like to go to Panera Bread.

Starbucks ☺️

Same. Still the best WiFi

Breweries, not coffee shops! Geeez 😂 lol

I love to go to Barnes and Noble, especially the ones with a Starbucks inside. Maybe try some local coffee shops in your area, too.

I was going to say the library too 😊

BWWs has an awesome music selection, it I prefer Panera- good coffee and background talk too. Although I’ve found McCalisters to have good music too! Apparently I need a white noise to be productive🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Starbucks is better than Dunkin’ Donuts for grading. Bigger tables where you can spread out papers. Also, Starbucks cappuccino tends to improve my cognitive functioning.

funny

It’s true. I can do integral calculus in Starbucks. In Dunkin’, I can do two-digit multiplication at best!

Coffee Bean has a quiet atmosphere!

You just finished teaching a skill / topic in your lesson. Children are now off to work on that skill independently: who are you targeting first to support, your students in the red or your students in the yellow?

Got an email “reminder” that weekly lesson plans are due Monday morning. I’m tired. I want to reply “no” because I don’t have time to make detailed lesson plans on their template...for lessons that I won’t follow...for a curriculum they haven’t given me yet....But I should probably just ignore it until I’m less tired so I don’t let my mouth get me in trouble. Do y’all turn in lesson plans?

Good Trouble: which subjects or lessons might be contentious in your community, but that you feel a moral or professional obligation to address, even if they are not mentioned by name in the curriculum? Do you already teach some of these? What would you add? Which would you eliminate? I am assuming a Middle School or higher population of students.

Feedback I’ve received from clients and colleagues on my leadership and deliverables are “exceeding expectations” on all areas. The past year I’ve not had much interaction with the partners from my team, as I’ve been working with EYP quite a lot as no new projects started when I was available for staffing. I had my YE review last week and the YE feedback I got was “we don’t really know any of his work, he needs to engage more with our team”. Will this affect my compensation and bonus this year?

How do you think a swap from MBB to big4 strategy would be viewed? Currently in a flagship office of an MBB and there is basically no strategy. There are 9 miserable cost outs / transformations / PMOs for every 1 borderline strategy case. The staffing lottery in my region means you almost always end up working 75 hours+ on some god forsaken project. Contrast that to what I hear about big 4 strategy: lower hours and more strategy exposure as the crappy projects go to the other MC departments
