relationships
Happiness is a mindset that doesn’t just happen. Rather, you choose and put work into being happy. Practice gratitude. Be less judgmental with yourself and others.
Health. Mental and physical.
My own opinion - evaluate what your potential regrets could be if you are on your death bed. Barely anyone would say “I wish I made more money,” but rather things like “I wish I spent more time with my kids” or “I wish I was kind to my wife” and so on. It shows a lot about what you value and could point to what ultimately makes you happy and fulfilled.
Figure out what you value and go from there
Happiness goes through up and downs. Try for contentment with your life.
Having a good relationship with my SO, friends, and family makes me the most happy! I love making memories with them. I look through photos I took with them all the time when I’m going through a rough day at work.
I mean after a certain point your needs are met. Gotta find something outside of work to give meaning to your life.
I work really hard and am very career focused. I don’t want to one day regret not having tapped into my ‘full potential’ and tell myself oh had I worked harder, so and so could have been better (e.g. position, experiences, job opportunities, finances). That keeps me driven, but not happy. But then if I don’t work hard, I’ll be unhappy cuz of that fear of some down-the-line regret. And this mindset makes dedicating time to non-work related stuff that bring happiness challenging. So, I think I’m just relating in a way to what you’re saying, but haven’t figured out a solution. I like most of the responses I see above though.
Gratitude
if you are too busy focused on the next step or what others have you’ll not find happiness. If you focus on what and who you have down to the details. You’ll find happiness
