I interviewed for Data Analyst role at EY, it went well and the job sounds great, but I'm a bit hesitant to leave PwC because I really like the firm and I'm just 8 months in my job as an associate at a subgroup of ITS that has some focus on technology and analytics but it's mostly tax compliance.
I do want to transition to data analytics but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to go to another big 4, or maybe just look for a position in industry.
Any advice or similar experience?

I used to want to be a fashion designer, an author, and a teacher.
I was shamed out of pursuing the arts, I blog because I don't like long form writing, and I am 85% leaning towards being childfree due to working with children for too long.
My brother on the other hand wanted to be a racecar chef. He definitely speeds while driving and cooks something with garlic, so I guess dreams can come true lol.
Wanted to be an architect/engineer. Eventually went for a business degree because that's where everyone said the big bucks were. Started working as a hedge fund analyst and was absolutely miserable. Went back to school and got an engineering degree. It's never too late to go do something else.
Aw this is really encouraging. I started off in engineering but then got my MPH and am now working in public health, but it’s more administrative focused. I really want to get back into engineering design, specifically medical devices but it’s super hard to find experience since I didn’t have a capstone project or an internship in undergrad 😕. I’ve finally decided that I’m going to work on my own independent project and try to use that to show schools and companies that I’m serious about it and still have the skills
Stay in accounting and just be the laughing stock of your firm. .
That’s like walking myself to HR. Accounting is a relationships business and don’t think I’ll last long playing the fool. I want to leave smoothly not be fired lol
Go into tech sales. It’s literally all talking and socializing
I went from customer success to pre sales because I wanted to test the waters and didn’t want to jump right into a quota based role. Presales is great because your job is to help close deals with a kickass software demo. After building some cred with sales folks, I’ll try and jump to Microsoft sales where they make $$$$$
A friend of mine found a piece of paper from our 3rd grade class where we all said what we wanted to be when we grew up. Lots of police officers, vets, and doctors. I said clown. I found my people.
Just the idea of un-ironically wanting to be a clown is giving me so much joy right now 🥲😆
I feel this in my soul. I let my photography aspirations fall to the wayside trying to fit into the corporate job lifestyle. Just turned 28 and full of misery
Tabula Rasa’s question is putting shame on Project Manager 1 which is unnecessary. I could see how it might be meant to motivate but can be harmful to force people into something they may not have the ability to transition to at the moment. I received some similar pressure and coaching before, that ended up putting me behind in my career financially. It comes from a place of privilege. Not all have the financial ability to pursue their passion career. I find the ikigai to be a more realistic route for doing what you’re well at, make money on part of it and find other outlets to pursue your passion. Recommend looking into that instead of making a hard pivot back to photography, especially if it may affect your financial stability which can also create misery.
I was never able to decide, to this day I have no idea what I want to do. I just want fulfilling work, decent salary with a good WLB.
Very relatable
Ad peeps like myself make up stories and jokes for a living.
A pilot, a journalist, a doctor, an author. I didn't even know what HR did until I started working 😂
You got one life to live, live it your way. If your career is making you miserable, leave it 🤷♂️ and try something else. The biggest issue would be financially, you probably need to implement a plan and timeline on when you are going to quit and at what cash cushion before experimenting other paths in life. Also clowns make north of 60k, not great but not bad either
Nope not great at all lol. I was thinking more along stand up comedy but perhaps as a hobby. Need something that’s not pay less than half of my current salary. Don’t know what stand ups get paid and its either you’re really good or you’re really bad.
I wanted to be on Jackass. I think I just wanted a job I could do with my friends, try new things like they did and never grow up. The inevitable risk of injury never bothered me, as the upside seemed so rewarding.
Now I'm 27, I am jaded, but my life is not full of misery. Learning to be confident enough with the work I get done in the office, so I can prioritize family over work and not compare myself to my peers has helped me come a long way. I now no longer get paid out for holidays or agree to work on special projects after hours and travel for work now seldomly. I am at a current state of peace with my job, but I will always wonder what my life would be like if I pursued the dreams I had as a kid
I wanted to be an actress that no one bothers off set 😂😂 Aka an introvert that craved attention
I wanted to be an architect and fire fighter lol
Me too on the architect thing 😂
I wanted to be a lawyer (thank you Clueless) and I wanted to graduate from Harvard. As I got older I wanted to be a CSI until I took my first crime scene class. I decided on a lab tech (forensic biologist) eventually but couldn’t pass organic chem. I graduated with a degree in criminology and psychology. I still have a love of forensics despite the fact that I’m an accountant for an HOA. Talk about not even in the same league.
BOA I actually have my certificate or whatever for cyber security. I loved the forensic part of it. That was the section I aced with flying colors. I was thinking of forensic accounting too. Maybe like the accountant minus the bad ass weapons

A teacher, a police officer. I would never do either of those now. I want to be a actor now, but dont know where to start.
I wanted to be a chemical engineer and work in the oil industry. That was my game plan in HS and then I went to college to study chemical engineering. After graduation, I went and worked at a top CPG company. Within a month, I knew it wasn't for me. I wish I would have investigated the actual job and what the day to day was like.
After realizing I didn't know what I wanted to do, I worked on projects to discover what I wanted to do. I discovered I wanted to be a product manager and a founder. Eventually, I turned my process into a business. I built a social platform that matches people's careers with their passions by working on projects with a coach. Have you thought about trying out stand up comedy at an open mic night?
I have but I’m a bit intimidated tbh
High school and middle years teacher. You need to track and manage data,(great for a CPA) but you also get to work with the goofiest people on the planet - teenagers.
