Does anyone know how to explain a 1 year 4 month employment gap on a resume? Took time off for health/family reasons and I keep getting auto rejected by the ATS. Sent out 100 applications, only 1 interview. Applying for financial analyst roles, 2 years corp tax Big 4, 3 years audit senior at smaller niche mid sized firm w/ an international office 1.5 years Internal Audit $22B healthcare Company in that order.

I have finally found an open job posting for a role that actually gets me excited and that I’m qualified for.. problem is: I don’t have any connections at the company and the application process is highly competitive. I have 1.5 YOE in MC and was recently contacted about an opportunity for a data analyst role in private equity. I’m pretty clueless about the space, but comp is an 85% pay raise and the work generally sounds interesting. Has anyone exited to a similar role? What’s career growth like? What does a partner at a VC fund make? Let’s say top 10 AUM. It seems from the partner LinkedIn they have wildly varying amounts of YOE. Some more like 15 years, others only 5-6.

A large part of my job involves building models or making reports that involve copying numbers from one document to another. Sometimes, if I get interrupted, I lose my train of thought and make mistakes in getting the right number. Nothing disastrous has happened, but I’m trying to figure out how to get better at not losing my train of thought when doing work that basically involves looking up numbers from various documents. Any suggestions?
