One associate I know paid off his entire student loan balance with his first bonus. The lower base actually really helps for budgeting and avoiding the temptation of lifestyle creep.

Live off the salary, save the bonus. Although will usually make one large purchase to celebrate (e.g., watch, vacation)

What group in A&M had the highest bonus?

Usually, NACR, PEPI, then TAG (industry specific groups fall somewhere along these groups usually).

Pretty much all of the above, just kinda depends on everyone’s personal situation at that moment

It all goes into the investment account

Savings / DCA into brokerage. (Relatively) small treat.

I am 56 years old. My financial advisor has suggested that I create a charitable remainder trust as a tax planning strategy to address $1M in unrealized gains and also allow for tax deductions. I am concerned that I will out live the trust and there will be an excessive contribution to the charity rather than my heirs. While I want to be charitable, having too much go to the charity is a conern. Any suggestions ?
