Hello,
I am looking to pivot from the beauty industry to the tech industry. A hiring manager from LinkedIn reached out to me about a position LinkedIn. I reached the case study stage and haven’t heard back. Not sure what to do next. It’s been difficult tying to make this move. I am open to any advice or mentorship’s.
“Reflecting on and adopting the use of micro-affirmations would be a positive strategy to prevent microaggressions. Micro-affirmations are small acts that foster inclusion, listening, comfort and support for people who may feel isolated or invisible in their environment. Focus on action, not avoidance – create new good behaviours.”

My big 4 experience in the US: 8am-11pm Mondays to Thursdays plus travel (breaking for dinner), 9-5 Fridays.
My big 4 experience in Toronto: 8am-6pm Monday to Friday and almost never any travel
Been on global projects and usually did Sunday to Fri or multiple weeks at a time as everyone wants to maximize your time when international travel is involved. But this is not the norm for most projects in Canada.
Consulting is consulting is consulting.
Nope...because slavery at some firms is not consulting
Depends on consulting company, project etc. Guaranteed you will most likely be working 40+ in the bigger consulting firms like D, ACN, PWC etc. Good luck.

Let’s put it this way; if compared to US then it’s much less and there is (arguably) WLB.

I think MBB/Tier2 is similar across borders.
Huge difference at Big 4 imo where colleagues live to work M-Thu.

In the US maybe, but definetly not in Canada.
Imo it's MBB
Tier 2 (Kearny, OW, Strategy&, etc.)
Big 4, Accenture, IBM
I don’t think there’s any difference between Canada and the US in terms of hours. At least not for MBB, expect 60+ fairly consistently. An easy project will be 55.
On the flip side it’s a lot better than Asia?
Friday nights and weekends are always in the clear. During the week is very project dependent. Currently I wrap up usually at 6 and have 0-3 hours a night varies week by week. I’ve had 1-2 projects where we wrap earlier. I have had 5-10 projects where it’s typically working Monday - Thursday until ~8pm -11pm
I moved from Big4 US to another Big4 in Canada... Things are definitely way more chill here. I agree it is project dependant, but even the client expectations are less here. WLB is more of a reality and not just crap that HR likes to showcase on their monthly slides
