What do most people exit to?
McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Hello fishes. I'm a final year student from a tier 2 college. Under some fortunate/unfortunate circumstances, I got placed at a startup, associate consultant role (tech consulting). That rules me out of placement session till 80% batch gets placed. I was targeting big 3/4, to which I can't apply as they're here rn. Could you guys please give me some referals for big 3/4? Thanks Deloitte KPMG EY Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group McKinsey & Company

Agree. Depends to a certain extent on if you’re more junior or if you were hired specifically for your expertise in building whatever the company was building before the strategy changed. If you’re more junior, there’s a good chance they can move you into another role that leverages your core competencies - if you’re a specialist though, polish up the resume.
Learn a new skill?
Have they fired you or asked you to resign yet? The new business model may not work out. They may realize they still need you. But, probably a good idea to start looking at other jobs elsewhere, too. Surely your skill set is not relevant to this one company only.
Sometimes people are fired or leave/retire from jobs and then are hired back as consultants, too.
Haven’t fired me yet. You are right about this business model; it could very well not pan out. But can’t but help being overly cautious. I could be overreacting but I’ve been laid off before and I’m a bit on edge
Adapt.
Adapt.
Adapt.

Do you have any options outside of being forced to find a new role?

I’m a senior role. One possibility is adjusting to the new business model and contributing in the same function but I really don’t have any expertise here
I wouldn’t say technical because I’m not an engineer but definitely more attuned to some of those aspects of the business than others. My role is specialized in that there is nobody else doing my role
I am curious for how long was your role in high demand? Did they bring you on for that role?
They were looking for my role for 6 months or so but tbh, I think they hired me too early
Well seems like I didn’t even get time to adapt. I just got the news today that I’m being let go. I should become a fortune teller
So sorry. There are other options out there, even if you have to get creative to find them.
