Well if I write an accurate answer I will get knocked out of fishbowl. Again. HR should stick to hiring and firing who we tell them to. And leave the real work to the grown-ups.
My experience is we usually force roles on analysts when their current seat isn’t working out. May want to take a long hard look at your situation.
That being said, be courteous to the MD and find about the role. Sometimes easier to say it doesn’t sound like what you’re looking for after talking to the team, but really enjoyed meeting them

What’s the harm In talking , if nothing you make a connection
Never shoot down an opportunity to network, meet the MD, prepare as you would for any other interview. If the role is not what you are looking for , be cordial after the fact and thank both the team and recruiter. Good luck!
