Remove technical roadblocks, impart domain specific knowledge, connect you with other SMEs when I have no clue, stop fights, shield you from SM/PMD junk, informal workplace therapy, ensuring you logout on time, remind you to take pto, oh and delegating!

Lol I haven't even done PMP! Sounds like it's a coincidence. Another thing is the analysts have to support me with the grunt work pulling data together, building slides etc. My job is to also guide our architects on the client side to make the right decisions for their systems - this does require my experience from my prior hands on experience which less experienced folks will struggle with. The team of analysts consultants I have generally share aligned interest so whilst I delegate , I make sure they are focusing on developing their expertise. What I'm trying to say here is a good manager should have expertise to grow the team beyond just delegation. There has to be positive intent. I still take notes in meetings 😢.

Make you imbeciles look good so we can get follow on work and remain employed.

Thanks for checking in. I have low bandwidth right now but will do my best to circle back ASAP. Kindest regards.

Watch analysts laugh on zoom calls while they ping slack jokes about us. Just remember, the people above us delegate their work down too.

It’s all fun and games until they do it on a client facing call and the sponsor pings me “what’s so funny over there?”

The actual work because my practice is very top-heavy and we don’t hire for lower levels or replace people when they oeave. In addition to loads of bureaucratic administrative work

My manager does a lot of shielding and rework 🥴

lol what I refuse to do over & over. Even if you watch me do it. My coach practically yelled at me for failing to delegate properly. Sorry. It’s above me.
