What do people say in interviews when they switch from to the same role from their current company to a new company? Mainly doing it for increase in comp but always get stuck when recruiters ask “why do you want to make the switch?” Do I be honest?

Talk about why the new company offers advantages - better brand, bigger recognition, project scope, industry focus etc

I think you can do a basic research into the company/industry and find several good things - you're more interested in this industry coz bla bla (assuming it's different), not as much variety/learning in your current job, you admire the firm's culture (you know someone and they have rave reviews). It has to be tailored to the firm you're interviewing with and their positives

My view is that you should not say comp as the main reason. They will think you will jump ship for better comp as soon as it becomes available

Exactly but there’s no other reason esp if the products are literally the same “b2b saas”
