Law professors

Professors. I don’t know what school you went to, but at mine it seemed like a prerequisite. All CVs were variations on the same theme: top of class, law review, circuit court clerkship, worked at a firm for a hot minute, Supreme Court clerkship, back to the firm or not, write a bunch of stuff most people don’t read, assistant professor, write more stuff people don’t read (other than forcing it upon their law students), and then, yeah, whatever they want. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to trivialize or minimize their hard work or intelligence, just calling it how I see it.

My SO got a great job offer in Bangkok and we need to decide soon. I’ve always been very independent and never followed a partner to another city or country. Will it be bad for my career to join him even while there is a little change I can find a job in Bangkok? Not sure what to do right now. Due to covid I recently got laid off and am already not in my home country but have lived here over 7 years. Any advice? Me following him or we both try to find another job in the country we are in now.

Hi ladies. A birth control question. I take oral BC on time every day but I am struggling to feel comfortable with sex without a condom. I know BC is something like 99% effective but I am not ready for the repercussions of failure - whether raising a child or choosing not to, both are decisions I do not want to make. My partner is frustrated by this but defers to me and is willing to do whatever I'm comfortable with. I want to become comfortable without condoms. Any ideas?

* Pretty stupid question but * Thinking of hiring a cleaning person for my place. I’m pretty young, I’ve never hired someone for something like this before. Do you think it would be an issue in the future if I wanted to go into a judgeship or into politics, if I had never checked her papers and she ended up being undocumented? Not sure how to ask someone off the bat for papers and I would rather not do it if I don’t have to.

Did I mess up by not trying to negotiate RSUs on my offer for exit into industry? Or are RSUs usually a-typical at a senior analyst level in industry?

Hello, I got approached by a MassMutual agent, he showed me a plan of investing 15k per year for 15 years into a whole life insurance. His argument is that since whole life policy have cash value, I could draw money from it tax free in down years instead of 401k. And if I don't take out any money its a good tax free inheritance for my kids. Any advice/comments ?

Hi all, trying to understand my shot at HSW GRE: 162V 156Q. Work experience: Currently in MBB with previous internship experiences in Banking GPA: 3.75 GPA from non Ivy League school. Demographic: URM I’ve been studying to retake the GREs but my practice test scores aren’t improving and I have limited study time because I’m on a burner case. Do I have a shot of my score doesn’t improve? Do I have one if it does?
