What do the exit opportunities look like for M&A services strategy vs corporate strategy?

Obviously M&A will set you up for more M&A oriented roles while corp strategy will give you a broader range of options. If you know you want to focus on transactions go for M&A, if you’re not sure what you want to do go for Corp Strat.

On the M&A side, have seen exits to middle market PE, investment banking, corporate finance and corporate development as well as the obvious b-school exit.

On the Corp Strategy side I’ve seen a huge variety.... start-ups, corporate strategy roles, operating roles within your vertical.... huge range.

Just graduated law school with honors but don’t have a job lined up. I’m thinking about just going solo and starting my own firm after taking the bar in Sept. Finances are not a problem. Planning to practice IP transactions/prosecution/litigation. I have work exp/clerk/extern but no associate exp. This climate is crazy and I think I can grab a lot of smaller work myself through my own networks and be my own boss. Also currently grabbing an mba part time. Thoughts? Advice?

Does anyone have any advice for applying to remote positions? How do I stand out? Most of my experience is in healthcare, clinical and administrative. I want to go to school full time instead of part time and working remotely will provide a better opportunity to facilitate that. I’m applying everywhere with very few callbacks. I’m trying to get into tech as my degree is in Information Systems. Any advice would help!

Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.
