We were thinking of getting married sometime after Easter of 2023 & have been looking into Cancun but are open to anywhere with an all-inclusive resort that has good food + nice beach. I’ve always dreamed about being a bride, planning my wedding, and doing all the bridal things possible but my fiancé’s dad hasn’t been in good health and that’s taken away a lot of our energy. I honestly feel so guilty for being sad or even upset about not getting the bridal experience because he is obviously so important to us but can’t help but feel like this. 😭

I’m having a small courthouse ceremony this summer, and planning on doing my own makeup. Any recommendations on how to approach lipsticks? I don’t usually wear lipsticks because they almost always dry out my lips. Long lasting lipsticks are very drying, and regular lipsticks just don’t stay. We are going to kiss and take pictures, is the only solution constantly reapplying?

Feeling guilty and insecure that I didn’t have a huge reaction to finding my wedding dress. I love the dress but I didn’t cry or jump up and down over it. I felt self-conscious after seeing everyone else’s reaction to my reaction when saying yes. I can’t shake the feeling now that I shouldn’t have said yes. Anybody else have a similar experience?

I don't wear a lot of makeup - how far in advance from the ceremony should I be getting it done? Is having it all done 2 hrs before the ceremony too late or too early? I'm not getting pictures done until ceremony and after. Thanks!

Walking down the aisle!
I (personally) don’t want anyone to walk me down the aisle. I view it as an antiquated and patriarchal tradition. No one is “giving me away”, I’m in my 30s and have been independent for a decade.

But I’m afraid of hurting my dad’s feelings, I don’t want him to feel slighted or miss something he has been looking forward to (he’s a very proud man and it would mean a lot to him).
Any way to reframe it from being “given away”? Do I view as “something for dad, not me”? Ty!

How should I consider closeness to an airport when looking at venues? A lot of our guests will be from out of town. Is it annoying to have your wedding in a location that is an hour or two away from an airport?
