That's private

Like many other peer law firms, Weil is trying to build out their data privacy group to do more standalone counseling work. Heard that’s largely unsuccessful due to the large volume of m&a and PE deals that Weil handles as a firm, which all requires privacy team’s input as specialists. There’s also been a lot of attrition over the years

Thank you! I’m unfamiliar with big law in general so this is helpful

Follow up question, what are questions I should ask recruiters in general to better understand the practice group, the personalities, etc?

Is there a disparity between the SWE TC AND NETWORK ENGINEER TC? I see that SWEs with 2YOE in Google get TC ~45L INR.
However, It was told that 30L INR would be the highest possible value for a network engineer role with 2YOE. Is that a low or is that how the market scenario is?
How much salary can one expect/negotiate as a L3 NETWORK ENGINEER in Google? YOE: 2 CURRENT TC: 22L INR

Please advice!!!

2017 grad so technically a 4th year. Lateraled to a CRE boutique in NYC that’s a major player. Learned quickly that my experience/knowledge/organization is not up to par (was a COG in the machine at prior firm). Just had EOY review and, though positive sounding, they’re dropping me to a 3rd year to ensure I’m not billing as a 4th year and able to do the work to learn/get up to par. I feel pretty okay about it (market salary deduction notwithstanding), but want to make sure I’m not being naive.

Any insight into what NY Biglaw counsel positions pay? I imagine it varies but I think my firm may be majorly lowballing with basically just senior associate salary. Bonuses are likely just top of associate scale too so max $100k. I hear people leaving for much higher paid counsel spots elsewhere so curious.

Need some feedback, I am lateraling into an associate role at a top 25 law firm after several years at government and corporate jobs & have concerns about the background check.

I haven’t made much money in the past few years and have accrued significant debt from credit cards & personal loans, some of which was to help out family during COVID. My credit utilization is at 90% & I’ve been making payments on time. Credit score is at 580 after being at 780 before law school. Will this ding me?

Can anyone recommend some small or mid-sized law firms in NYC that are reputable and could make for a good lateral opportunity for a second-year M&A associate who enjoys working at a law firm but wants to get away from constant 70-100 hour weeks? Hi! I’m a first-year associate working at a large regional firm. I attended a well-ranked, but regional law school and my grades weren’t stellar. School was never very motivating for me, and I put way more effort into internships and networking than my studies during law school. Luckily, I love to network and landed an awesome job at a big firm. Eventually, I’m hoping to work in-house. My question is this, will my grades always follow me? I’ve heard that with time and experience, not so much.

I’m a 2nd yr. in M&A (if relevant: I’m billing on average 176 hrs, lowest month was 144, highest was 281, not getting paid market about 20-30k below). I’m considering a lateral move to Latham. Would love insight on the M&A group and the NY office as a whole, specifically culture but any insight or advice is appreciated.
