What do we think about Tbwa New York?

CBH is awesome. So are the other ECDs like Amy, Julia, Al, etc. They have great taste and a vision for the work.

This whole comment thread reads like the pr department wrote every fawning comment.

Aren’t they the agency that basically sent around a work till you die memo? Leadership extolling crazy work hours? I might be wrong but didn’t sound great in terms of culture

If you are a creative then go for it, every other department is really bad, leadership is very toxic except for CBH hence the great creative product. STAY AWAY FROM NISSAN.

Thanks both. I’m on tier 1 and even then just barely surviving (and very miserable) thanks to my toxic colleagues and the conservative nature of clients that lead to watered down work.

They’ve been really savvy in taking on tiny, cause-based, awards-bait projects. Their actual work for big clients is eh, and the Cannes-bait strategy feels a bit too cynical and transparent to me. It benefits the C-level and the few creatives who work on those things but not most. It’s like slapping a new cover on an old book. But it’s clearly changed their perception in the industry. Brilliant from an optics perspective.

Sure, I agree it’s a smart move. Tasked with “turning a place around,” I don’t know what I’d do differently. But does it make me jealous to work there or think they’re “killing it” when the work most people see is ho-hum? Not really. “Gaming the system” is different than “killing it.”

Love what they’ve been up to, the way they milk every last drop of creative out of clients big and small, and the leadership team in place. What do you think about TBWA NY?

Freelanced there for a few months and loved the people. CBH was great.

They seem to be making a lot of good spots.

General vibe is that Chris has partially turned the place around, but there are still lingering issues from some of the leaders who were around before him

It’s kind of a sweatshop

People are so cynical. I don’t work at tbwa but I can celebrate when an agency has managed to turn around and do go work not just put things down.

I’d work for Amy and Julia. They’ve contributed to turn it around. And CBH is a bonus. If not A+J as ECDs, nah.

There is no culture. But it’s not a place you go to for culture.
