Do trainings / Udemy / certifications centered around the work needed by the client or similar that might benefit both you and the project
I can't begin to second this enough, always seek to grow your skill set in some way. If it's building your network at the client or internally do it, if it's learning agile practices do it, whatever you can do to grow, don't spend time screwing around.
You are salaried. There should be equal expectation of uptime and downtime. Learn to not stress and enjoy it.
Not sure how you worked out that logic...but ok
Resident Evil 2 for PS4 is absolute fire

Chill? Get some personal stuff sorted out that can be done on a computer. I like to use those weeks to plan vacation details, family visits, etc
Build good habits (going to the gym, cooking meals etc.) that will become part of your routine that you will do them while stressed

Look for ops to add more value there. Also ask team members if they need help.. if nothing, then focus on your own improvement areas.
Late stage capitalism is feeling bad about down time.
I’m always busy with internal stuff on the side and online learnings.
Reach out to a partner and ask what practice building he/she needs help with
Enjoy it!!! I wish I had that
Cap1 you just needed to vent ehh ?
Lol yeah the project was design to fail with the contract terms that were negotiated

Just charge your time to client code.
I fill the time with something I want to learn / skill I want to add. When remote, it's the same class or running errands, having the bug guy come spray my house, etc.
Practice / business development! You should always be thinking 3 steps ahead in your career and be (strategically) involved in internal initiatives that support growth for your firm.
E.g., help build reusable collateral, templates, anything that can accelerate delivery for your colleagues. Get involved in sales pursuits if possible. There are definitely a lot of opportunities to be busy lol
Good luck!!
Yeah down time isn’t a thing on our project... our contract was negotiated at a fixed price with limited resources and unreasonable expectations & all falls on the developers to put in late nights and weekends.
It was also joke. If you haven’t been told to shut up and color yet don’t worry it’s coming.
Training to develop some new skills (Lynda, hubspot, Coursera, whatever), offer up available time for proposal work with partners/device areas for which you want to work
So what do you do with your utilization target? Asking for real
I second KPMG 1 but would suggest that you start with the higher-ups within your chain of command. They might be working on something else for which they could need help. Reaching out to a Partner/MD first could somehow reflect poorly on your supervisor and above in the sense that they aren’t able to keep you busy.
Pray that it remains that way.
