I usually say “too short.” With few exceptions, my colleagues aren’t my friends. I don’t tell them my business.
It was good and none of your business. Let’s get started with what you called me for.
Enthusiast
“Did some much needed DIY around the house”
“Long overdue video chat with family”
“Caught up on a few articles I had bookmarked and organized my Gmail inbox”
“Experimented with some new recipes in the kitchen”
“Pulled together old clothes to donate to a homeless shelter”
RINSE AND REPEAT
Same! “I power washed my balcony”
“Tried a new restaurant”
“Went on a bike”
Depends on the day and person. Most people get the "It was good" others get a snippet of my life.
I give the 50, 000 feet overview always
Summary that lasts no more than 5 - 10 seconds
Keep it hi-level. For the nosey ones who asked what did you do? I always answer "relaxed."
I make up stories
It depends. If I have a rapport and good working relationship with a coworker, then I give them the brief highlights. Otherwise, my answer is "It was good. How about yours?"
