Hey family! The agency I work at is looking for a Diversity & Inclusion “specialists” for our upcoming DI initiative. Does anyone know of any black DI professionals that we can reach out to?
Thoughts on ad agency diversity data, now that it’s being released? “Across the entire (Havas) organization in the U.S., 6.11% of employees are Black, 10.8% are Hispanic or Latino and 9.66% are Asian.”
Why the sudden influx of e-mails from HR....about respect, diversity, harassment in the workplace?
Has anyone else's firms essentially dropped their DEI programming? After last summer, we had a lot of virtual meetings with speakers and awareness weeks for various affinity groups. The diversity committee also had meetings planned. The awareness weeks scheduled for 2021 summer, fall, and winter never happened, and the diversity committee meetings keep getting canceled and never rescheduled.
For any POC creatives, have you ever had to explain to a recruiter why you're considered a diversity candidate? This was the first time I felt like I had to prove my diversity/minority background.
As a male supervisor, should I refer to my two female paralegals as “hey guys” or “hey ladies”? English is not my first language and woke is really making it difficult for me.
Way to go 72andSunny your diversity initiatives are clearly working... especially for this panel at Cannes!!!! 🙄🙄🙄 #totaldisappointment
On my current case, I feel like I’m part of a boys’ club. All my peers are 22-24 years guys and my manager is a 36 y/o man. I’m 29F. I’m not sure if it’s the gender or age that I don’t fit into here (or something else), but I constantly feel left out. Basically never get a chance to share my opinions because these men overpower the discussion. I’m more so concerned about the impression it creates that I have nothing to contribute. Anyone dealt with this?
Why are all my interviewers (5) at ZS male and Indian?? Are these red flags for diversity and inclusion?
Best robo advisor? I have a brokerage where I have money in ETFs but am looking to diversity and create a separate account and use robo only.
Shocked my (lovely and a lot more junior than myself) trainee today by casually explaining that guy who he thought was super senior is actually a peer of mine. I suspect this is a gender / age / appearance / ego thing: guy in question is a large man in his late 50s. I'm a petite blonde almost 20 years younger. And I'm quite approachable as a lead. Am I wrong?
Anyone have any thoughts on moving to Atlanta, LA or Austin? I’m 23, single and things I am looking for are access to nature, good food, decent dating scene, diversity.
Been working in the multicultural space for quite some time. I do love it, but there is a part of me that believes that I can make a bigger impact in a GM agency. We need some diversity. Thoughts?
I’ve thought about writing this post a number of times and have stopped but here goes. We need to stop calling ourselves girls. We need to stop using language that unconsciously minimizes and potentially demeans our gender. If we aren’t students, have jobs, etc we are women. We don’t refer to the “boys on our teams”. If we don’t change the language no one will. Here’s a YouTube video by Mayim Baylik. https://youtu.be/qHH3lhYwqcY
Shaquille O’Neal Co-Founds New Ad Agency Focused on Diversity Called Majority, the agency will strive for a talent pool that’s 75% “black, brown, women and LGBTQ,” says Omid Farhang, co-founder and CEO
I recently got married and started talking to my sister in law more often. She addresses me as “Bro” EVERY SINGLE TIME. She knows I identify as female. I absolutely hate because it’s a sign of deeply ingrained patriarchy and I also find it disrespectful. I never address anyone as bro, dude, man etc because I honestly find it very disrespectful. I would rather be addressed by my name. How can I handle this situation? We are still forming a reltnship & don’t want to hurt that process. I’m Indian.
So here’s that NYT article about the lack of diversity at Adidas... which is also true about their agencies. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/19/business/adidas-diversity-employees.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share
I feel, as one of 6 black copywriters in advertising, I should be excluded from all mandatory diversity training. Am I wrong?
Looking to branch out from mid-market work (currently editing on salary, full-time) and get into some more challenging and *hopefully* national work as a side-gig (or full-time remote) via freelance or becoming a name on a roster. Has anyone else made this very specific transition? Would love advice on pitching to other post houses, agencies, etc. Just looking to add some diversity to my portfolio to break up all the credit union and insurance company TV spots.

Maybe we should implement something like automatic posts refresh? I got a notification about "someone like mypost" but it isn't displaying at the post title...

Why don't more (white collar) Americans take breaks in-between jobs? Like a month or two summer break. Is this mindset that you need to work all the time a vestige from back when people would work at the same company for 40 years until they die?
Major help pls - 6 months in as a new hire and got an opportunity to move to healthcare industry doing what I love with a 20% pay bump. Is it way too soon to leave esp considering annual reviews CONT
What’s a good sport to get into, that is not too expensive but is enjoyable even for beginners? Used to do rowing and golf but I can’t really commit to the training schedule of rowing, nor do I want to folk out time and money in maintaining my handicap. I’d been running and gymming quite a lot but feel like they aren’t really proper sports... I wish I did soccer or something but I guess it’s too late to start now. Anyone else had the same issue but managed to turn it around?
My dear fishes. This is a brainstorming post. After reading dozens of your posts, I realize there is a HUGE mental health problem. Also, an opportunity. Worldwide searches for anxiety are booming. Mental healthcare is not "here you have some yoga videos" and keep working 60,70,80h a week to barely pay your rent and think in your net worth. How could we redesign consulting services for sustainability, specially regarding employee mental health, and still bring value to our clients?
Me putting in my two weeks tomorrow to leave my dumpster fire project for my dream industry exit in Corp strategy at Nike
What is the range (lowest to highest) of deductibles for the insurance plans that EY offers to its employees? I am currently on University's plan (which ends on Aug 15) and might need to shell $200 for an MRI (since I haven't hit the deductible limit yet) which I can certainly delay until I join EY in September.
I started consulting 6 months ago out of college, and honestly feel like i’m not learning much. it’s long days of mindless formatting work and sitting in meetings on mute while people argue about arbitrary things for hours. i have limited client interaction and feel like i am not really a contributing member of the team, especially because my team constantly talks over me the few times i do try to chime in. any thoughts on how to make my experience here more constructive?
Have a first round interview call with a bcg recruiter. Technology consulting. Any tips what to expect and what would be appropriate to talk about. I am in risk advisory.
