I know more and more investors that have been flocking to these targeted funds through Ark. Impressive returns in the CY largely driven by TSLA (largest holding in 3 of the Ark funds) as well as general market bullishness in other tech stocks.
My biggest issue that I have had with them is that there is no ESG fund or clean energy fund. Those I would be interested in. The other funds are too heavily dominated by TSLA and a few other big names you can grab like SQ, ROKU, SPOT, WORK, BABA. The most unique is the genomics fund, which is an interesting idea but not one I personally would invest in.
As mentioned above, it would be hard to replicate performance again in 2021 since 2020 was such a great year for some of its largest holdings.
I have ARKG , ARKK, and ARKF. I am heavy on ARKG because I don’t understand much about biotech and I think it’s worth to pay 0.75 % for the expense ratio. ARK has the expertise to do the DD.
So you don’t know much about biotech and don’t know what they’re invested in?
They’ve got a good outlook, but I’d be very surprised if they replicated their 2020 gains again in 2021.
Look at their trades. They pick high conviction companies and then ALSO swing trade momentum/growth stocks. You can do better by swing trading growth stocks but do you have the time to watch all day and monitor the tickers? Probably not. This year was an aberration but they still have previous years at high 20%(?) returns even when Tesla was their largest position and not going anywhere. Their recipe is good and the swing trading helps to keep them at least average when their high conviction doesn't work out. If I were to be investing I'd be using the same strategy (LT growth companies) as them so for the .75% it's a bargain IMO.
They focus on the right companies long term imo. More excited to see how they perform by around 2030
Currently hold these funds. So far, very satisfied with the returns compared to other ETF’s
