What do you do for a dopamine hit that’s not alcohol/social media/online shopping? Trying to find healthy source for when I don’t have time for a full workout! Thank you!

This is interesting. I usually just go online shopping. But aside from it, I spend time with my dog! He's really energetic and he likes to cuddle and play catch with me.

I love getting out in the sunshine & watering my flowers. I have about 8 potted plants that I have successfully kept alive through the summer heat. It only takes 5-10 minutes to go outside and water them and pull off the dead leaves. I also have a bird feeder in my front yard, so I refill the feeder and sit and watch the birds. :)

How lovely!

Chew gum, the more exotic the better. I get new flavors at Asian supermarkets, bodegas, on trips, etc. I try to avoid using food for dopamine, so gum is a good compromise for me. Sipping a hot beverage or broth is also good.

Jog up and down my office’s fire staircase a few times.

Go for a walk outside! Getting some sun always helps me and it clears my mind from being in front of a screen all day. I usually feel more energized after it.

The company I work for is based out of a different state. They’re HR team makes more because of cost of living. Well, that has changed dramatically and over the last 3 years my state has soared passed theirs. Our team has not received inflation adjustment and we still make less than the team in our base office because of “cost of living”. My team and I have worked hard to demonstrate this but we are not being heard. The obvious would be to look elsewhere but other than this issue, I’m happy here

Job is in medical IT, Midwest, 10 years. Thank you for looking and appreciate any comments.

I’ve been trying to figure out dosage and medication over the past month and wanted some insight from people who may have more experience with diff doses. I started with 5mg Adderall for 2 weeks but it stopped being effective around the 4-5th day. I switched to 10 mg for a week and it was good but a bit up and down, so switched to Vyvanse 30 mg for a week, which was too strong. I’m now on 15 mg Adderall, but it feels like I can’t concentrate and I’m scattered. Question in comments:

What are the side effects of a small dosage of Adderall? I am thinking about getting tested, as this bowl has made me realize I may need to be. What has been keeping me from doing so for years was fear of being put on medication, but now I feel like although I’m almost 40, my career would vastly benefit from being diagnosed, or at least ruling it out.

I have read a lot about messiness and ADHD... my office is always a wreck but I know where everything is and I clean it occasionally because I know people can see it.... my house on the other hand is a permanent pigsty (which I regularly blame on being "a busy lawyer")... any one else? Also, any tips on how to stay clean and organized?

I feel like clients are calling and following up, things are getting worse the longer this goes on and I can’t seem to snap out of it. Just me? Advice?

I have a prescription for Vyvanse. Even without Vyvanse, I have diagnosed generalized anxiety. On top of that, depression runs in my family. It’s not a diagnosis, but I suspect it’s there. Vyvanse certainly doesn’t help the anxiety, especially when I’m coming down off it for the day. I want to ask my doctors about an anti-anxiety/depression meds, but does anyone here take ADHD meds and those other meds at the same time? I’m worried about the drug interactions/potential physical effects. TIA.

Tired of my pharmacy. Every single month I have to call the pharmacy for my Adderall, they say they don’t have any prescriptions for me, they ask for additional information, they magically find it, and then I have to wait like 1 to 8 hours to have it filled. It’s a pointless phone call. Why do I have to repeat these shenanigans every month?! Is it just Rite Aid? Is CVS any better? So irritating.
