Tutoring, summer camp .. luckily my school district offers a summer savings program. 10% of each check is deferred for the summer. I know it is not easy..also some districts offer paid work like curriculum writing and planning. I avoid summer school at all costs. You didn't listen to me all year and now I am going to teach in the summer?! What's going to happen differently?
My school splits your salary into 12 month payments. Which is ridiculously nice. So I am still getting paid through the summer. I make 39k, so not a ton of money. But still. I am I still making exactly what I make during the school year each paycheck. So I don't really need a summer job. However, I have gotten into the habit of volunteering (so I have something to do) or walking/watching people's dogs for some extra cash. Something easy to do and I enjoy. I also can do it when I want to and not do it when I want to. I have no obligation like I would a paying part time job.
We do to. But they start us at 56000

I teach English online to kids in China through VIPKid! You can make your own schedule and there's little to no prep!
I just want a brain break. I can barely stand my own kids in summer, lol
Wag! Dog walking or sitting
My district offers summer stipend work. I’m spending 3-4 weeks doing that. Having said that, we also budget our 10 month salaries so it spreads over 12 months. Takes some discipline and were not perfect at it but it sure helps
That sounds great!!
I have a job cleaning an office building in the evenings and on weekends.
It started as a temporary summer job last year, but they kept me on after school started back up.
It’s pretty flexible and pays well.
I use an app that connects me with dog boarding, house sitting, and walking. Its easy summer work since I like dogs.
Tutoring! $25/hr
I charge $30. I only do reading and have a Masters in Reading.
I used to sell Keep Collective jewelry. It was fun, and the jewelry is beautiful.
I work at a local museum
defer your payments so you get paid year round instead of for the 10 months you teach.
I get a lump sum in June and pay my self my regular salary every two weeks until I get my next pay in mid September. I takes some discipline, but I keep it in a savings account that pays nice interest.
I teach summer school for the non profit who runs it in our district office. Look around your area for Educational Foundations who offer summer school
I nanny for a family of 3 and make $300/week
Teach summer school for the county I work in and tutor. I do try to save money throughout the year and use part of our tax return to help with summer too if needed.
Rover- dog sitting, VIPKid- tutoring ESL for kids in China, and alcohol promotions (sampling out alcohol in grocery stores) and similar sampling- fitness drinks, lemonades, food, etc
Oh and summer school. I also do VIPKid, rover and promotions during the school year. I usually have 1-2 days off of all my jobs per month. I’m always exhausted. But paying college loans (bachelors and masters) and a car payment, and insurance and rent and groceries, and care for 3 dogs (including 2 dog knee surgeries this year ($6,000) means I need to work nonstop to make ends meet.
Bar tend. It is a couple of times a week and it is nice because it requires very little thought
I work at a men's clothing store!
I also teach English to Chinese students via Qkids. I love it! Started last summer and then continued throughout school year on weekends and during breaks. There are many companies to choose from.
Landscaping, construction, restaurant waitering, wedding planning. Sometimes cleaning companies hire seasonal workers, particularly in the summer time due to an increase of vacation rental cleans.
