I still bill 8 hours for the day allocated between whatever projects. Not my fault I'd they haven't assigned me anything else
Chief
I'm in this situation where hours are allocated to my jobs so I can't even bill 8 hrs to them. Ridiculous 🤮🖕🏻
Talk to your production team and ask them where you can put your hours. Then be sure to message your resourcing manager to let them know that you’re available for placement on projects. If you don’t flag it to them, it’ll seem like you’re coasting by and hoping you don’t get allocated to projects.
Hours need to be billed accurately or they’ll be rejected by the approvers eventually. Trust me when I say that you’re better off proactively trying to get allocated for the full 40 hours v. seeming light on work.
OP: It’s not your job to bring in work. R/GAs advice is sound. If you’ve let your operations/resourcing folks know your avails and they have nothing for you, it’s beyond your control. I’d try to find some admin/internal things to work on and add lots of notes to your sheets. Watch a class/tutorial, work on some capes, polish your pitch bio, organize, etc. Try to take care of all those little things that always have a way of popping up when you’re drowning in work. It’ll pick up soon enough, especially if you get hit with any EOY spend-down requests. It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Start updating your resume if you’re <50% billable
Put the rest under Admin.
A few hours of Admin a week is fine, it isn’t going to raise a big red flag. More than 5-7 though probably will.
Bill it all to internal training. They love that.

“What if we train them and they leave?”
“What if we don’t and they stay?”
Remember that timesheets are used by the agency to bill the client. If the client is bad and making the agency wait, bill them. If the client is good and you are waiting because there’s actually nothing to do, bill the time to overhead/admin.
I figure I’m salary so i put the whole day no matter what even if I don’t work but 5 a week.
Make sure your manager is aware that you do not have enough work. Also, if you have Resource Management at your agency, alter them.
Stretch it to the limit 🎶
Be careful with time sheets. Especially if you work for government clients.
100%. Look at Ogilvy & their problems on the ONDCP acct. People did jail time.
Sprinkle amongst open jobs, if you’re waiting on work it should still be billed to active jobs

Nothing wrong with screwing around. This isn’t a retail job. Lighten up.
I’m brand side, so my time sheets are strictly “for workload and process planning purposes”.
I clocked like 6 hours this week.
