My boss makes jokes about me being from a different country whenever there is a work meeting or a gathering with coworkers, even though he knows where I am from. This usually occurs when I meet new work-related people or for example if I am in a situation that involves ethnic related subjects.

What is this? This is normal?

How do you deal with your “mentor” being threatened by your performance and gatekeeping information from you? I’ve been given a D&I project for my firm which is ideal because it has always been a passion of mine. In the process I’ve noticed that no one is actually committed to this cause. How do you make management see that it’s not just about writing a check?

I'm in desperate need of tips to get genuine buy in from our predominantly white, male senior leadership to create a more inclusive environment. As is often the case, middle management and below is very diverse and then at Director+ it gets much more homogeneous. So far any real initiatives get shot down in favor of performative actions to post on SM. Is this just how it is, or can we try something different?
