Tell they client you gave them the bonus deal and they got 30% more assurance for free. Builds goodwill with their management.

Hardly a PIP. Someone did a poor job of explaining the job to the Staff. Make sure they still charge all their time. Explain the staff why they over audited so they know for the next time Life will go on.

Let your manager know what happened. Also communicate to the staff he over tested and why he over tested. Did you not follow up with him while he tested?

Talk to the team about effective and effectient testing and explain that we are all managing a business here and then move on.

Talk to them about why they did too much and walk them through how it should have been done correctly so they will know and later teach properly, then look back to see if there was a way the sr/mgr could have prevented that much work being done in the first place so it doesn’t happen again

I’ve done two years in audit, and I left for FDD wanting to do more useful work; I didn’t see the value add in audit. After a year in FDD, I’ve begun to feel that accounting really is close to meaningless, it’s all automated and I’ve never felt like what we do is adding any value, the deal is not dependent on our work whatsoever. Someone may need to hear this today: a staff/senior kissing your a** doesn’t make them a high performer. Your highest performers are probably quieter and don’t seek out attention for their hard work. Make sure you still pay attention to them and recognize them for their efforts, and for f**k’s sake please be able to distinguish between a legitimate high performer and someone who’s just a kiss-a**. You should be rewarding the former, not the latter.
