What do you do outside of work? It seems I just work, hang out with my SO and pet, and watch tv. From the outside I must be the most boring person 😂. It doesn’t bother me and I don’t feel like I’m missing anything so I’m not inclined to do a massive overhaul of my life, but just curious what some hobbies / interests ppl in this line of work have.

I work at an Am100 firm in a smaller market. Hours are comparable to any other big firm (and, stupidly, there is a facetime requirement even in the time of Rona), but at least they are predictable. I wake up at 530 am and bill from 700 to 500 to have free afternoons for hobbies and to enjoy an hour long dinner with my SO. Hobbies are mostly Crossfit (I bought equipment to be able to do it in my garage) and singing/playing guitar. Personally, I was feeling crushed after 5 years of putting everything else on hold for this profession. So I'm doing my best to make it work, but I have to say it takes all of my energy to keep afloat.

That’s mostly what I do too, because I’m too tired to engage in my other hobbies. Even reading (my favoritest hobby) is painful after spending the whole day reading case law.

I do play video games a little bit. And when I can work up the energy, I try to engage in more creative hobbies. Writing, painting, that kind of thing.

My life is pretty much the same, though I would switch out kids for pet. Used to get out on my motorcycle until I crashed it coming home late one night. Now my primary hobby is eating ALL the food in the fridge.

Video games, learning Spanish, watching movies/tv, hanging out with my partner. No kids or pets here (except a fish tank).

A lot of cycling. Used to golf. Was into weight training for awhile. But find I only have time for one hobby.

Maybe that too. Both in the office and on the bike. Different kinds of suffering. Prefer the latter. 😉

Same, but add a kid. However, I am starting to get super stir crazy! In all fairness, I tend to get this away every winter when life outdoors stops for us. Lol.

video games and, in non covid times / once i’m vaccinated, playing hockey

Baking, working out, reading, and learning French! I try to watch as little tv as possible!

Pickle ball ... you’ll thank me later

Considering moving into this apartment complex, and it's a gorgeous little gem and recently renovated, but I just learned that it's a former WWII US Army medical facility... So, like, I'm not super into ghost stuff, but it's kind of eery to imagine sleeping in the same room where some poor WWII soldiers might have gotten their feet amputated or whatever. That, and apparently the leasing office isn't great. All that said, should I go for it? 🤔

Has anyone here made the switch from consulting to a technology startup or venture incubator in another country? I currently work at KPMG (Europe based) as a technology advisor but thinking about moving to Asia and joining a tech startup or venture incubator. Curious if anyone has done something similar. (I’ve lived & worked as an intern in Asia before).

Hello! This is a long story, so I’ll try to keep it brief. I work for a very small supplement company - it’s myself (marketing/acct mgmt) my coworker (sales), and the owner. My coworker is struggling to complete his tasks/meet his goals, and the owner is coming to me about angry clients. I’m afraid my coworkers inability to complete his duties is somehow being reflected onto me? What’s the most tactful way to have a conversation, either with him or the owner? Can provide further detail if needed

Anyone else just sitting around waiting for the ax to drop? I'm a soon to be 2nd year corporate associate who has seen work completely dry up. My utilization held pretty steady around 50% immediately after shutdown, but August was below 15 billables with no appreciable work in the pipeline. Aside from letting people know I'm available and doing pro-bono/CLE, it's starting to feel like a serious "covidcation" leading to termination.
