Respond with some feedback on the resume and say it’s in both of your best interests to not refer until it’s up to standards

I only refer people I personally know to be high quality. So if this happened, I’d offer them feedback on their resume and help make sure we can get them placed properly.
I don’t refer strangers or people whom I wouldn’t otherwise want my name associated with.
I want my word to be worth something. If I say I want to hire XYZ and can vouch for their viability, and there is a need, then I want that to sail through. It’s hard to accomplish that when you refer unknown candidates for a quick couple thousand dollars.

I agree with this 100%. I get that people chase referral bonuses here but it’s so weird to me that people will just refer strangers in hopes of a bit of cash
Refer them to a resume specialist. Lots of them on LinkedIn

I provide them with feedback on how to improve their resume and hopefully steer them toward a better fit. Gotta chase that pithy referral 💰💰💰.

If you actually care you can provide resume feedback. Otherwise ghost them
I’d only refer if i know them…not worth costing your reputation for that bonus.

I usually give them feedback and ask them to make changes.
Gotta get them ready for the "plz fix" show.
I mean it’s someone I casually know. This is the first time I have seen any sort of “work product” and it sucks. I sort of thought based on our conversations that they would be more on the ball.
When I first received I did give some guidance.. but he turned it around in like an hour without much care.. may just refer him to the website lol
