What do you do when you’ve been a solid contributor, valued member to a growing team, who always goes the extra mile, and gets positive praise daily from coworkers plus great reviews yet as a mid level production designer with a multitude of skills (who’s been knowingly underpaid but enjoys the freedom of working remote) has her creative director quit (who labored his team out of love) - domino effect, eventually their team falls apart and you find yourself being laid off “effective now”

Would love advice on work life balance. On an account that does a lot of events. We are social AOR. Unfortunately they always seem to plan something new every 3-4 weeks. We are expected to create posts from photog images (often waiting around at our comps all day for updates, assets, dealing with client back & forth in the late hours, etc.). I am always the one dealing with these fires. My acct director never says no to weekend work/ picks up any slack for me. I get no overtime, perks, anything.

I often get feedback that I come off “defensive”....This is never the tone I’m going for. I am often brief, because I’m juggling lots of balls in the air—don’t always bother with formalities. But the feedback is frustrating because I don’t feel I’m approaching defensively. How do you combat this type of feedback? Do I combat it? I’m starting to feel frustrated and misunderstood.

Just found out my mentor is leaving my company. As if this isn’t bad enough, one of my male peers that has been at the company longer than I have been is being promoted to fill her role - no questions asked. We have about the same amount of experience and I will soon be reporting into him. I am...not stoked. Am I being a baby or does this suck as bad as I think it’s going to?

I worked 17 hours yesterday, on a nocturnal schedule because we are shooting a campaign abroad. We worked 12+ hours every day for the last 5 days, and most of those before that. We’ve been working for 12 days straight and they just told us we have to work some this weekend. Is this acceptable? Is this something that’s “just advertising”? And do I have to anticipate it will happen again? Where do you draw the line?
