What do you do/ask to vet babysitters on a site like Care.com? Trying to find our first babysitter and I am nervous!

Agree with C1 in that it’s all about vibes, and the first time the person comes, I stay at home (out of sight/out of their way, but with open ears). In the interview (I usually just do a phone call) I ask them about themselves, where they’re from, what ages of kids have they cared for in the past, and maybe some questions about how they handle boundaries, tantrums, etc. I’m not looking for specific answers, just a general positive attitude towards kids and getting the person talking long enough to see if there are any red flags.

To be honest, I just pick someone that has reviews and responds in an appropriate time. We haven’t had luck with repeat babysitters but also haven’t had any duds yet so I think it’s been fine.

Background check anyone I’m leaving alone with my kids

Background check, talk on the phone, and then always go to their house and see them interact with their kids (and meet any other adult who will ever be around my kids). All of my care.com caregivers have been stay-at-home parents so watching them parent their kids in their home environment says a lot.

Just saw that. Not a big fan of the LF Coupe but would definitely go with a silver Aperta if I could.

Repotted my monstera last night and it went from pretty upright with a nice arch, to looking like it’s going to fall over. I know some people give their monstera a pole to climb, but that’s not what we are looking to do with ours and I know they can look nice & be healthy without a pole

Returning from work after a year of mat leave (Toronto in-house at a BIG company) - can I expect my salary to increase as though I was still working over that year? (Regular increase, obviously not expecting a bonus. Am hoping to get something to keep up with inflation but I don’t know if that’s standard.)

Hello folks,

I am new to fishbowl and recently got an offer from Publicis Sapient for a senior associate. They are offering $136k with unlimited pto benefits. As I am from the industry and haven't heard about this company before, I would like some comments or thoughts about working for this company? How do they invest in their employees (like pay raise, promotions, etc)?
