Nothing. Then sign up for cobra if something happens. You have 90 days retroactively to enable it.

Thought COBRA was only if the company fired you. Good to know.

Agreed with BAH1 that you can sign up for COBRA up to 90 days after separation regardless of the reason. Worth noting I think you can continue cobra for up to 18 months thereafter

I think you usually have coverage till the end of the month anyway.

How does Cobra work? I’m having a baby in the next few weeks and planning to start a new job shortly thereafter. Health insurance with my new employer does not begin until 60 days after my start date. I’m scared because in the first 8 weeks post birth there are tons of doctors appts for the baby. Is Cobra the right option for me? How can I determine cost I will have to pay?

You can call your HR department and just ask for what the monthly cobra rates are and what the process is like to sign up (is it electronic, or will they mail you forms.. how long after separating will they mail you info on cobra, etc). Worth noting if your medical plan is separate from dental and vision plans, they’ll all have their own cobra rates so you should ask for each rate specifically.

Cobra is a continuation of your normal coverage and benefits, it’s just that you pay for the whole premium monthly (instead of your employer likely subsidizing much of the premium). You’d need to pay the premium with after-tax earnings, but if you have an HSA I think you can use that when paying for cobra premiums.

Congrats on the baby!

This is mostly for ACN moms-I am pregnant with my first and would like to tack on PTO after the 4 months we get. If I take an additional 6 weeks I will only have 2 PTO days left. Better to take the 5.5 months and have no PTO or take 5 months and have some wiggle room? Also how to think about about coming back into the Covid climate with more maternity leave? This would be next April/May.

Anyone know of or know how to find a good therapist that’s covered by insurance? Have had a chronic health issue that my doctors now think is stress induced, but cannot find a therapist

I’ve been an insurance defense attorney for 16 years and I can’t do it any longer. Really, the issue is that I can’t do litigation any longer. I’m having difficulty identifying roles where the skills transfer. I’ve had a number of interviews, and the response is always you seem great, but we hired someone who already has experience in this area (in house employment, higher ed, etc.). Is there any hope for change? Ideas? I’m fine with relocating, but I’m not really interested in big cities.

Fellow KPMG, anyone with aetna pos II plan? It seems like you have a 35,000 lifetime maximum.

I also understand that oral drugs such as letrazole are covered under the prescription plan and you only need to enroll and register in the fertility plan if you need IUI and the more rigorous treatments.

Questions:
1. Does the letrazole count towards the 35 lifetime maximum?

Any other advice or insight would be appreciated.

Long Dash costs freelancers their livelihood and schedule. They put freelancers in HIGH RISK positions asking for full-time commitment and then not following through on payments and promised/contracted hours—costing freelancers a HUGE opportunity cost. If you're okay with getting stringed along and putting in part time hours when it benefits them then go for it. They will only pay you for the hours you worked when asking for FT commitment. They put me in a state of financial insecurity.

Any managers or above who work in CA? Do you carry personal liability insurance (Directors and Officers liability) in case an employee tries to sue you personally for firing them? HR made the recommendation after an investigation and placing them on unpaid admin leave for a week...but left it up to me.

Can I be personally sued? I have a clean HR record.
