Breath - breath in deep for as long as you can and then slowly let that out of your mouth, do this a couple times over and you'll be out! Works for me every time.

I get out of bed and do basic stretches. Not only is this boring and calms you down mentally but releases tension and promotes bloodflow through your body.

Honestly I put on Korean dramas. The background noise plus having to read the subtitles puts me out in like 15 min.

I downloaded a free app called Sleep Bug. It’s a white noise machine for your phone. I put on the sound of the ocean for 30 minutes and if I’m still awake after it stops, I get out of bed. If you can’t sleep, don’t lay in bed, because it tells your brain that your bed isn’t a place for rest. Even though we’re all working from home, don’t work from bed. Your brain will bring work stress to your bed. If you can’t sleep after 30 minutes, get up and do something non-digital, read a book, write a list, draw, to avoid the blue light from your phone or laptop. Don’t do anything too productive or your brain will feel rewarded for staying up. If you can’t sleep, because you’re worrying, write down your worries, so your brain can let go of them. I always write a to do list at the end of the work day to end my work day and transition from work to home. Make sure your room is cold and dark, but trying putting socks on your feet.

This, but with marijuana

I listen to stories in Calm. The app also had soundscapes and meditation sessions. Really works for me.

Has anyone switched labs for better lab quality/embryologist experience? Wondering if there is a significant difference between labs. We got poor results at our current clinic and, happens that our clinic is rated lower on SART website. Wondering if the lab quality is the reason or if the clinic handles complicated cases that lead to lower outcomes. Overall, unsure if we should switch clinics or just try again at the current one. Thanks.

If you are a Chase Private Client grandfathered at a time when they didn’t enforce you to maintain an obscene amount of money in your accounts, those honeymoon days are over. Received a letter telling me to basically pony up 150k or get downgraded to Joe the plumber banking status. Chase you guys are going to lose your loyal wealthy customers who are temporarily strapped for cash by doing this.

Interesting statistic I just saw: Today 50% of women aged 30 do not currently have children. This is the highest it’s been since they began keeping records of it. 🤯

I’ve always kept a very small circle of friends and my 2 best friends married each other and moved to another state. We still stay in contact, but no more lunch get togethers, no more helping each other out with the little things, no more getting together just to hang out..etc. I’m 42, married with 6 wonderful kids. My wife truly is my closest friend, but we all need to get away sometimes with that other friend. So how do you make new friends, especially in your 40s?

I have a meeting scheduled tomorrow to go over a promotion and salary increase that has been promised to me for quite a while and is finally happening. The company I work for is notorious for paying less than market value and I’ve slowly been working my way up to market value. I don’t hold out much hope that this salary increase will be at market value. When I last received an increase, my manager presented me with the number and asked me what I thought. Advice on how to respond this time?

My wife (married 6 years) talks to her sister on FaceTime for an average of 2 hours a day. Some days less, some days it is on and off literally the entire day. I can’t remember the last day they didn’t talk on the phone.

It is starting to drive me crazy. I have never said anything to her about how annoying I find this. We both work from home. I can hear her carrying on conversation all day long. Am I being totally unreasonable? How can I communicate this without sounding like a jerk.

Would you take a VP role at 4 months pregnant? I’m in house at Manager level and been offered VP at a large agency. Nice raise and obviously title will open doors. But I’m scared about going back to agency life and it’s hours and workload with a new baby. Can’t decide whether to take the jump now so it benefits me in long run or take the route which will likely be easier on me as a new mom and potentially risk slowing down career. Really torn.
