My bf and I were both big law, but our in-office days were staggered so there was always someone at home to watch the dog. But I took an in-house job and now two of our in office days overlap. My dog is a pandemic pup, so she's gotten use to having someone around all the time.

Is it wise to go to my company’s competitor for a promotion and risk burning a bridge?

For context, my small company was suddenly bought out by a large corp. I was about to get promoted to leadership but the new company doesn’t want to honor the title/salary increase we worked out. We only have one significant competitor in our industry, and it’s likely my best option. Love my company, been with them for years, but I’m really struggling with how frustrating this situation is.

A stub year here. Partners and counsels in my group are super respectful. When they revise my work real-time, they'd often ask me "what do you think?" After they make the change, that is. Senior BL (M&A) associate here ready to quit, even though I haven’t lined anything up yet. Just had enough of it all. Anything I should keep in mind? Fortunate to be in a very strong financial position, so not worried about that aspect. Current goal is to exit law for something business side (hope to achieve this mainly through my network). Fellow biglawboiz, what’s your “go to” nice casual outfit in the summer (e.g., hanging out with friends in a casual setting, dinner at a restaurant, etc.). Mine has been jeans and a black v-neck, but honestly I just need a change. I’m also in my early 30s so probably too old to pull off the nice athliesure look (e.g., lulu shirts). Is anyone else just weirdly neutral about this job? My reaction when someone asks me if I like my job is the same reaction I would have if someone asked me if I like my garbage disposal. Just totally neutral.

My group at my firm is great by biglaw standards. It’s still unpredictable and demanding, but I have not experienced any of the horror stories others have. I like the people I work with, which motivates me to do a good job and be helpful, I just don’t really care about the work at all.
